Evan Voytas
Evan Voytas
Evan Voytas writes mystical, vibe-centric pop songs. After the release of a series of EPs, as well as stints in the live bands of Flying Lotus, Blu, and Gonjasufi, he's currently finishing work on his debut album.
Dark Furs
Dark Furs
Dark Furs is a female-fronted independent rock band. Founded in East Los Angeles, a chance connection in 2011 between UK-raised vocalist Suzanne May and LA native Chad Philipps sparked an immediate songwriting partnership. They mix intricate melody lines and commanding vocals with dark and dreamy instrumentals to create their own brand of "Mood Rock." In 2013, the duo headed into the studio to record their self-titled EP with producer Dan Long (Henry Clay People, Local Natives) which BuzzBands.LA described as "a sophisticated reverie" and landed them on multiple Bands to Watch lists. They recently completed the recording of their follow-up EP at Jim Henson Studios with producer Nico Essig, slated for a Spring release. Dark Furs is ready to kick off 2014 with new music, videos, and an international tour.
Y Luv
Y Luv
L.A.'s Y LUV may be fairly new to the music scene but they're already well on their way to earning spots on iPods and party playlists with recent songs like the electro-rock anthem "Keep It Rollin'." Young but hardworking, the quintet's latest single is a nice expansion on their sound from the previous EP "How Chill Can You Let Go." Similarly to their first single, "All Night," which featured a sparse intro with a heavy bass line that built up to soaring chorus, "Keep It Rollin'" initially keeps listeners in suspense only to lead into an eclectic burst of intricate guitar lines and synthesized beats designed for fist-pumping. However, if you could do with less electro components, "Earthquakes" is also a recommended track in which strong vocals and bright guitar riffs dominate.---Buzzbands.la
TÜLIPS
TÜLIPS
Three-piece female fronted DIY post-pünk riotgaze from Los Angeles

Angie & Taleen’s friendship blossomed as they sent each other mixtapes between L.A. and Chicago. When Taleen moved home the two started jamming as TÜLIPS, blending her love of goth/shoegaze and Angie’s pop-riot sensibilities to create their own genre: RIOTGAZE. In 2012 the two front-women found Travis, and the 3-piece was born.

TÜLIPS have gained a loyal following in their L.A. hometown playingvenues such as the Bootleg Theater, Lot 1, The Satellite, Los Globos, Bar Lubitsch, Silverlake Lounge, Five Star Bar, The L.A. Fort, The Airliner, Echo Country Outpost, The Mezz and more. They’re the resident band of DUM DUM Zine and enjoyed their radio debut on L.A.’s KXLU Feb. 4th, 2013. TÜLIPS have played several festivals including SXSW and cARTel’s BROKECHELLA, opening for Manhattan Murder Mystery. Look out for TÜLIPS debut LP, "Doom & Bloom" in 2014.

"The pair trade off on vocals, each bringing their own fury to the proceedings. Nothing flowery about this." - Kevin Bronson, BUZZBANDS.LA

"A Californian’s take on 90s Brit garage punk" - Daniel Warren, INDIE ROCK REVIEWS

"TÜLIPS are fucking awesome. Part bedroom pop, part riot grrrl act a la Pussy Riot. All killer no filler." - Zane Roessell, INDIE ROCK REVIEWS

"The two ladies traded off singing lead literally every other song, like they were co-consuls, each one becoming a three-minute president when she took the mike." - D.M. Collins, L.A. RECORD
