Softer Sex Presents...Softober Nights
"LA-based Good Witch breaks hearts and lights fires with their dreamy mood-pop. Conjuring up shades of Lykke Li, Alvvays, and Garbage, they bridge the gap between rock and pop with sophisticated ease and confident swagger. Slinky bass, anthemic drums, distorted guitars, shimmery synthesizers, and cinematic strings come together in singable indie rock songs with a lush edge that are at once disarmingly vulnerable, unapologetically sexy, and fearlessly honest. PopMatters called their latest single, Shake You Loose, "one hell of a performance." The new EP, Double Life, comes out November 2nd."
A Melbourne goth amidst the Los Angeles sun. Doctrin is an Alternative Rock band based in Los Angeles. 2018's latest release 'Show You The Way' (Co-produced and mixed by Grammy Nominated, Brian Virtue - 30 Seconds to Mars, Deftones, Jane's Addiction) appeared on Buzz Bands - Indie FM and was described as a 'dirty dose of desert influenced alternative rock' by the music blog, When The Horn Blows. From performing at home town venues such as Cherry Bar and The Corner Hotel to selling out the iconic Evelyn in Melbourne, Lead Singer and Guitarist Dolly Denko’s relocation to LA has garnered returning performances at The Hi Hat, The Whisky, Resident DTLA, The Viper Room and Harvard & Stone. Denko is well known for writing, directing and producing Doctrin's music videos as well as videos for other musical acts for commercial release.
Founded by singer Tara Jane, Los Angeles femme-fronted Blood Candy incorporates dreamy sanguine vocals over noisy reverb-drenched guitars with tempo changes and haunting melodies that form a wall of sound a la Black Tambourine, The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. Their album entitled, "Dead Moon" was released by Buddyhead Records in August of 2015. The Deli Mag, called it a "blend of fuzz and reverb that mingles like lovers' sweat and cigarette smoke —" They have worked with producer Joe Cardamone of the Icarus Line, graced LA's Part Time Punks and were named one of the, "13 Los Angeles Artists and Bands to Watch" by Grimy Goods. Their modern take on 90's shoegaze is best described as a soundtrack for heartbroken slow dancing and drug-fueled make out sessions.
