Queen Kwong
Queen Kwong
Queen Kwong is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter Carre Callaway, who was discovered at age 17 by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. What began as a curious 4-track analog cassette recorded in Carre’s living room soon grew to become Queen Kwong, a rock trio based in Los Angeles, known for charismatic live shows and raw, emotive tunes. In January 2010, Queen Kwong released her debut EP (Love Is A Bruise), featuring the single “Pet” which was quickly picked up by BBC Radio 6. Queen Kwong has not only opened shows for two separate Nine Inch Nails tours, but Carre has also worked with artists ranging from Joseph Arthur to Dave Navarro as well as Smashing Pumpkin’s producer, Kerry Brown. With growing notoriety, Queen Kwong has entered into the studio as of August 2010 to begin recording their debut, full length album, produced by Joe Cardamone (The Icarus Line). Hardy har har har...meow.... Queen Kwong at the Palladium Review: "Opening the night was a somewhat new artist by the name Queen Kwong. Front-woman Carre Callaway had the pleasure of opening for NIN a few years ago under her solo name, and this time around was able to showcase some rock-induced tunes under the band name Queen Kwong, who reside locally in the Silverlake area. To say everyone was focused on seeing NIN would be an understatement, however the audience’s reaction to Queen Kwong was nothing short of great. Their mix of alternative guitar riffs, tender yet aggressive vocals, coupled along with gorgeous harmonies from a violin and cello left me in a good mood for the rest of the night. Hopefully another big name will take them on the road soon, as they definitely have the wings for this flight called the music biz." ..-LA RECORD
Ballerina Black
Ballerina Black
Ballerina Black's debut album, Cattle Arithmetic, a 'record that bleeds with energetic despair, pierced with shards of hope; in short, a hypnotic temper tantrum' is spreading rapidly after its mid 2011 release. The record has attracted a distribution deal with Universal's JDM records and the attention of several music publishers. Landing its singles on some of LA's most influential radio stations, as well as being premiered on Gossip Girl's seasons premier promo on MTV, among many others. Quickly they were booked at the best venues in Los Angeles, the highlight which was landing on stage at the Greek Theater opening for on of their longtime favorites, Interpol.
