The Record Company
The Record Company
The Record Company is a roots/blues/rock trio based in Los Angeles. Steeped in the classic sounds of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker along with the jump of Howlin’ Wolf, The Record Company have burst onto the scene in a very short time, performing their first show in January 2012. While never trying to simply emulate the great masters, the band have found their own fresh take on the music and can best be described as a group giving a 21st century nod to a timeless art form.
The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers
The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers
The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers began as a collective of friends getting together in the summer of 2010. A choir of up to 15 revived the old gospel spirit with songs like “I Shall Not Be Moved”, “12 Gates”, and “In My Time of Dying”. Slowly they evolved to a band of 9, committed to keeping the spirit of gospel music alive. Influenced by both past gospel musicians such as The Dixie Hummingbirds, Washington Phillips and Sister Rosetta Tharpe as well as current bands like The Black Keys, Wilco, and Calexico, the band is creating a unique style of blues, indie rock, folk, and bluegrass. Some of the band’s favorite things include banjos, kickdrums, hand clappin’, foot stompin’, and sing-alongs.
The band has released two EP’s produced by Matt Wignall (Cold War Kids, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, The Fling) with songs that “pulse with the energy of the pre-rock ‘n’ roll era, when gospel greats raised their voices to the sky” (Buzzbands LA). Both EP’s can be found at

March 2009, in New York City, Stefan Murphy from The Mighty Stef came
off stage at the Mercury Lounge on the Lower east side of Manhattan to
find that Bono [U2] had been huddled in a corner of the small club
checking out his set.

The two Irishmen chatted and drank into the evening. Bono suggested
that Stef try to harness some of his raw talent as a singer and a
songwriter and transcend his roots influence, find the correct
producer and make an album that sounded like it was made on another
planet. The Mighty Stef had existed for 3 years previous to this
unique encounter with his childhood idol who Murphy has never seen or
heard from since. However,This piece of advice lit a spark in the
Dublin born performer.

The next song he wrote was a few weeks later on the mediterranean
island of Capri whilst on honeymoon with his brand new bride. The song
was called 'Capri Sun' inspired by the euphoria of the land and sea
scape of this ancient place. This was the first composition of an
upcoming record that took almost 3 years to realize, an otherworldly
collection of songs being brought to life by US based producer Alain
Johannes and a TMS line up that includes Gary Lonergan, Brian Farrell
and Dan Fitzpatrick. This is what brings this unique Irish band with
a cult-following worldwide to Los Angeles, catch them while they are
here or you shall be missing out.
Maesa is a Beachwood Canyon native. Her songs are much like the spirits that reside there ... haunting, dream-like stories written with striking truthfulness and sung with a dusty soulfulness which will slay your heart. When she gets with her band she not only woos but rocks too. Get ready.
