Wovenhand
Wovenhand
The music of David Eugene Edwards' Wovenhand is utterly unique, dizzying those who encounter it, with turnings and lashings of shadow and light. In almost every documented encounter with the music of Wovenhand, what is described is an experience so visceral and so universally disorienting, that one has to take note. From the first measures of music, the taste of desert earth is on the lips; neck-hairs snap to attention as strange and unfamiliar sounds whisper just underneath the surge of guitar and the rumble of bass; clouds loom on the horizon promising either the balm of rain or the threat of judgment — it could be either. The smell of horses' breath, like ash, carries with it messages from another place, a place that is at once very very far away and impossibly close... The music of Wovenhand is its own iconography, its own world, its own universe.
VUM
VUM
“I recommend it”- Henry Rollins, KCRW
“Minimal and elusive”- August Brown, LA Times
“[M]usic for people who see all too well in the dark”- Chris Ziegler, LA Weekly
“Totally ruling L.A. noir”- Aaron Aldorisio, Amoeba Music
VUM began in 2008 as the songwriting duo Jennifer Pearl and Christopher Badger working in and out of the Secret Lodge in Topanga Canyon, CA. Partners in crime, and co-conspirators for this new throbbing noir heartbeat, the two tread a deceptively minimalist path. Their debut EP “Strange Attractor” manages to be the desert, the tropics, and “the streets” all at once. In 2011, VUM released their first full-length album, Night Sun, on Secret Lodge Recordings. Night Sun lead the listener further into the jungle-choked latitudes of distant locales and explored the dark side of psychic war, whilst becoming a favorite of the underground blogosphere and a staple on Henry Rollins KCRW radio show.
VUM now includes live drummer/percussionist, Scott Spaulding, who makes his first appearance on their 2012 seven inch single release- Laura Palmer/Are You Animal? (Secret Lodge Recordings). These two tracks show a shift deeper into the darkwave/ pop-noir spectrum of VUM’s aesthetic. Laura Palmer was hailed as a song that “will forever be cemented into your mind as a song that you loved deeply" by bloggers, a “pop culture fav” by USA Today, and is in constant rotation on L.A.’s college radio KXLU and in Rollins’ Saturday night KCRW set.
VUM is now in the studio preparing for their highly anticipated 2nd full-length release.
Little Red Lung
Little Red Lung
In 2007, Los Angeles' Little Red Lung was seeded as a dramatic, dynamic and genre-defying musical exhibition, performing in small avant-indie venues across the city of Los Angeles, as well as assembling an extended arsenal of recorded material. In 2009, the band began a two year transplant to the foothills of East Tennessee, stirring the production pot that would eventually emerge as their debut record. After an extensive Eastern US tour in the Fall of 2010, they permanently transplanted back to their home stomping ground to form a new lineup and to nose dive into the live music scene.

Little Red Lung has recently graced the cover of Indie Music Reviewer Magazine, are featured in April's issue of Music Connection Magazine, and have been nominated for LA Artist of the Month by The Deli Magazine. They have rapidly been filling up their calendar over the past 9 months with live performances in and around the Los Angeles area and Northern California, as well as completing and releasing their debut self-titled EP - Available now though iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, and littleredlung.com
