Yellow Alex
Yellow Alex
Yellow Alex & The Feelings fuse Motown bass lines, psychedelic guitars, and ambient texture to create strange new flavors of classic soul and new age pop. Choreographed live performances take cues from 60's R&B, while yellow spins and coos a pop falsetto. Emotionally charged. Visually arresting. Short enough to fit on a 45.

The son of a Jamaican father and Polish mother, Yellow Alex's influences ar...e eclectic and disparate: the Jimi Hendrix experience, John Frusciante, Brian Eno, Curtis Mayfield, Prince, Gyorgy Ligeti, Nile Rodgers, Madonna, and et cetera.

A native Angelino, Yellow Alex returned to LA in 2007 after leaving Trick & the Heartstrings, a NY punk-funk trio. He developed a new style, which led to the formation of a septet, The Feelings. Longtime friend Daniel Brummel (formerly of Ozma) joined first on bass, and within a few months, included Sergio Flores (Symphonic Circles), Kim Haden (Light FM), Leonard Nimms (Ballerina Black), Brandon Scott (you may recognize him from "Grey's Anatomy" and Toyota commercials) and BRIT (aka "B/HIVE", event promoter for LA art events). Yellow Alex also spends time working as a producer and co-writer for several acts based in LA.
Terraplane Sun
Terraplane Sun
Hailing from Venice Beach, California, 5-piece blues rock outfit, Terraplane Sun, has honed a swampy soulful feel reminiscent of the 1960s “California Sound," with a groove that leaves you no choice but to move. Comprised of Ben Rothbard (vocals, harmonica and guitar), Johnny Zambetti (lead guitar and mandolin), Cecil Campanaro (bass), Lyle Riddle (drums) and Gabe Feenberg (piano, accordion and trombone), Terraplane Sun has performed on sold-out bills supporting such acts as The Alabama Shakes, Youngblodd Hawke and Imagine Dragons, along with several residences via C3 presents at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. After releasing its 2011 critically acclaimed debut album, Coyote, the band just completed a new 6-song EP, produced by Dave Trumfio (Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Ok Go) and mixed by Richard Furch (Prince, Fountains of Wayne, Outkast). Said EP includes "Get Me Golden," currently featured in Citibank's national television ad campaign, feature films, 21 Jump Street, and What To Expect When You're Expecting and hit television series, Teen Wolf and Franklin and Bash. Their recording of "Funnel Of Love," off of their Coyote album was just recently featured in the blockbuster film Playing For Keeps as well. It is the bands live show however that legitimizes them as one of L.A.'s top up and comers, as was evident during their recent residency at the legendary Satellite. As the Los Angeles Times puts it, "The Venice psych-blues rocker put on one of the most intense live shows in the city's local scene." As they've done with L.A., T.S. pounded the West Coast relentlessly during 2012 to an overwhelming response, just recently selling out shows in San Francisco and headlining The Belly Up Tavern in San Diego, as well as hitting just about every town between Seattle and Mexico "Friends EP" Out Now!
d'Artagnan
d'Artagnan
d'Artagnan is an acoustic folk band formed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2011. The group is composed of Wade Allain-Marcus (vocals/guitar) and Christopher Larkin (guitar/vocals).

Before crossing paths at the Sundance Institute Theatre Lab, Allain-Marcus and Larkin were writing their own separate compositions and performing them in Off-Broadway productions (Post No Bills at the Rattlestick Theater and The Sugar House at the Edge of the Wilderness at the Connelly Theater, respectively). Following a run of the play developed at Sundance, they went on to become roommates. Despite the differences in their musical backgrounds, the two quickly discovered an interest in the same style of songwriting. After a few months of collaboration, d'Artagnan made its debut at Joe's Pub in New York City. The group relocated to Los Angeles within the year, where they continue to write and perform live.

The band's first studio album entitled Americana is expected to be released in early fall 2012.
Esprit De Corps
Esprit De Corps
Esprit De Corps is a new, Los Angeles-based music group focused on creating reggae/soul music with an 80’s-style influence. Taken literally, the term “Esprit De Corps” refers to the ability of a group to maintain pride, loyalty, morale and fellowship to an institution or oneself and others. The new band, which promises a fresh, unique spin on reggae music, was founded in 2011 by Fred Card and Shock Mama Cherry.
Card, a Brazilian-born guitarist who now lives in L.A., started playing in reggae bands back when he was in high school. By his senior year, he was already recording songs and playing gigs with Jamaican star Earl Zero. Over the years, Card has worked with Junior Kelly (he produced “Lots of Herbs”), Sizzla, Anthony B., Michael Rose, Tanya Stephens, Gregory Isaacs and Buju Banton. Most recently, he has written and remixed songs for Bassnectar, and is now part of the production team at Fulton Yard Unlimited, which just produced the first single off of Earth Wind & Fire’s new Greatest Hits album. Card’s role in Esprit De Corps is as multi-instrumentalist, songwriter (music/arrangements) and co- producer.
Shock Mama Cherry’s early roots were in the heart of Brooklyn, where she began writing poetry and music at the early age of 10. By the age of 16, she was signed to a record label and began writing, recording and performing soul music on a much broader scale. Since that time, Cherry has been working in and around the music industry in a variety of capacities (including writing for artists such as Jaheim and Dwele) and has even delved into modeling and acting. She was introduced to Card in 2010 by producer/engineer Neal H. Pogue, and their mutual love of reggae sowed the seeds for Esprit De Corps, where she is lead vocalist/songwriter (lyrics/melody).
