Last In Class is a raw, rock ‘n’ roll four-piece featuring four Eastside L.A.-based musicians with roots deep in that community’s rich indie rock soil. They are singer/songwriter Emily Wilder, drummer Charlie Wadhams, lead guitarist Chris Watson and bassist Jessica Gelt.

Together for a little over five-months, the band has already holed up in a dark downtown basement studio to record a full-length album, which is in the process of being mixed and mastered. It has also won a devoted fan base with energetic live shows at prominent venues including the Troubadour, Satellite and the Silverlake Lounge.

The songs were written by Wilder while she and Gelt shared a tiny walk-up studio apartment in Echo Park, nursing broken hearts and smoking too many cigarettes.

Wilder and Gelt are formerly of the jangly sweet, punk band, Wet & Reckless, which was named one of L.A.’s hottest girl bands by the L.A. Weekly in 2011. Gelt is also the former bassist for underground legends, The Movies—a band known for its powerful stage shows and anthemic rock ballads. The Movies was signed to Houston Party Records in Spain, and remains a touchstone in the heady Silver Lake scene that bred it, with bands like Seasons and Grammy nominees the Silversun Pick Ups covering its music.

Wadhams was also a former drummer in The Movies and has established himself as one of L.A.’s most beloved indie singer/songwriters. In addition to his eponymous solo project, Wadhams was a founding member of Rex Aquarium; currently plays with the country-tinged rock band Willoughby with Black Keys’ guitarist Guy Seyffert; and is one-half of the melodic band Sweet Hearts, which recently released a buzzy, love-laced EP.

Watson is also a well-respected singer/songwriter who fronts the hard-hitting rock band Russian Bones. He toured the world as a guitarist for actress and musician Juliette Lewis’s powerhouse garage rock band Juliette and the Licks.

With lyric-driven songs that resonate on a gut level and speak to the universal experience of love lost and found, Last In Class is swiftly grabbing the attention of musicians and music-lovers, with plans for an EP and music video forthcoming.

On a misty winter night filled with bourbon and peace pipes Spirit Vine was born inside of a Wooden Ship in Echo Park. Inspired by Howlin' Wolf, Big Mama Thornton, and any sentient bold enough to imprint their ideas into the human psyche, five spirits embarked on a sojourn to create music with soul, that howls, coos, and crys like the spirit of the wind. Often drawing comparisons to Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, and Shocking Blu Spirit Vine have been playing the Los Angeles circuit for the past year in L.A.'s underground with some of the finest accessories to rock and roll the city has to offer. They were named "artist of the day" on Indie 103.1 and their music has received play on Indie 103.1. In 2009 Spirit Vine released their EP " Golden" in January and embarked on a full US tour in March and early summer.

Inspired by working class heros and the light of the eternal flame, Spirit Vine's grass roots mentality will ensure that they are a force not to be reckoned with! Look out!

Horse Thief recently released their debut LP entitled, Grow Deep, Grow Wild. Some songs on the album, such as “I Am The Bear,” hint at influences like The Smiths, while others like the Oklahoma anthem, “Warrior,” draw upon the band’s various influences such as Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes. Horse Thief has opened for bands such as Heartless Bastards, Colourmusic, and Jukebox the Ghost. They have performed at 35 Conferette, 2012 Official SXSW Showcase, Free Tulsa and the Norman Music Festival.

Dignitary Loss is a collaboration between cult filmmaker and former Lips frontman Mike Cuenca (about.me/mikecuenca) and photographer Amberlie Bankoff (Black Flamingo, ex-Teenage Talking Cars). The band is comprised of Carolyn Schoenburg (also formerly of the Lips), actor Joey Halter, and Nick Liberatore (Elemenopy).
