Torches

T O R C H E S are a rock outfit that have been hypnotizing and swooning the Los Angeles scene. Singer/guitarist Azad Cheikosman and bassist, Bridgette Moody formed this band with during what was a relationship. Azad and drummer, Eric Fabbro had been bashing away at their instruments in a hot and sweaty garage for about 4-5 years before she came in to lay down the root. The band previously consisted of five members, but went down to a more cohesive number of three. Bridgette learned how to play bass the same week that the band was set to play a show in Los Angeles back in 2010. Although she has left the band, Azad and Eric continue their journey, new bass player and all.
Their music has been aired on KROQ, KCRW, KPFK, KXLU and many stations all across the U.S. They have also been featured in BBC, LA Times, Filter Magazine, RCRD LBL, Buzz Bands LA etc. The band has played mostly every nook and cranny in packed L.A. venues and have shared the stage with bands such as Sea Wolf, Andrew W.K., and other great acts. They’ve toured throughout the US and played at SXSW and CMJ 2012. Torches have been fortunate enough to work with Local Natives‘ producer, Raymond Richards, David Newton (The Soft Pack, The Henry Clay People, Happy Hollows) and Mark Chalecki who has mastered records for some of today’s most intriguing artists (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bright Eyes, Silversun Pickups, Liars, Sunn O))), Brian Jonestown Massacre). This trio is excited to put out records, pet as many animals as humanly possible, see the world, meet weird looking people, share experiences and much more.

Incan Abraham

Incan Abraham consists of two pairs of childhood friends, who parted ways, and then reunited. Teddy moved to New York in high school, but when he visited LA in early 2009, we decided to brave the coastal disparity, and form a band.
We convened in Rhinebeck, NY for a month that summer, to record our first EP in a house there. Then, in the autumn of that year, Teddy moved out West, so the project could continue. It's been all fun since then.

Body Parts feat. Cecilia (Gothic Tropic) and Joaquin (James Supercave)

Sometime-musical theater actor Ryder Bach started Body Parts in 2009, and it's hard not to see it as a reaction to a life of crooning from the stage. The Los Angeles quintet's debut, 2011's "On Purpose," is shot-through with the intentionally smarmy insincerity of theater ("of all the bands / are we your favorite?" Bach asks in one song), but his provocative lyrics are balanced by intricate, detailed grooves that suggest Bach's inspirations are equal parts Stephen Sondheim, David Longstreth and David Byrne. The band, rounded out by Alina Cutrono, Raymond Proudfoot, S.A. Bach, and Matt Sobel, fuses Ryder's thoughtful lyrics – food, language and comfort serve as subjects – with an angular sense of melody, some Prince-inspired guitar-work, a lot of percussion and several pairs of decidedly square eyeglasses; the result is songs that are just as intellectually demanding as they are imminently danceable.
