Terraplane Sun

Hailing from Venice Beach, California, 5-piece blues rock outfit, Terraplane Sun, has honed a swampy soulful feel reminiscent of the 1960s “California Sound," with a groove that leaves you no choice but to move. Comprised of Ben Rothbard (vocals, harmonica and guitar), Johnny Zambetti (lead guitar and mandolin), Cecil Campanaro (bass), Lyle Riddle (drums) and Gabe Feenberg (piano, accordion and trombone), Terraplane Sun has performed on sold-out bills supporting such acts as The Alabama Shakes, Youngblodd Hawke and Imagine Dragons, along with several residences via C3 presents at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. After releasing its 2011 critically acclaimed debut album, Coyote, the band just completed a new 6-song EP, produced by Dave Trumfio (Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Ok Go) and mixed by Richard Furch (Prince, Fountains of Wayne, Outkast). Said EP includes "Get Me Golden," currently featured in Citibank's national television ad campaign, feature films, 21 Jump Street, and What To Expect When You're Expecting and hit television series, Teen Wolf and Franklin and Bash. Their recording of "Funnel Of Love," off of their Coyote album was just recently featured in the blockbuster film Playing For Keeps as well. It is the bands live show however that legitimizes them as one of L.A.'s top up and comers, as was evident during their recent residency at the legendary Satellite. As the Los Angeles Times puts it, "The Venice psych-blues rocker put on one of the most intense live shows in the city's local scene." As they've done with L.A., T.S. pounded the West Coast relentlessly during 2012 to an overwhelming response, just recently selling out shows in San Francisco and headlining The Belly Up Tavern in San Diego, as well as hitting just about every town between Seattle and Mexico "Friends EP" Out Now!
The Mowgli's

Five childhood friends from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, augmented by 3 mid-western transplants, The Mowgli's are a quintessential California band. Inspired by the magnetism of San Francisco, the grind of Los Angeles and the serenity of the Big Sur Coast, their songs are a joyous revival of rock n' roll, a twisting indie-folk dance and a heartfelt protest ballad.
Sliding from indie pop to country and a host of genres in between, the band evokes modern artists such as Fun., Grouplove and Edward Sharpe And the Magnetic Zeros, whilst having their roots in the music of Neil Young, The Byrds, The Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac.
Part 60's Laurel Canyon, part 70's Venice Beach and part 10's Silverlake, the band and the harmonies are held together by their message of universal love, peace and the belief that the highest form of consciousness is achieved by togetherness and unity.
Uplifting, collaborative, joyous and communal, their music is a walk through their life thus far: Meeting each other and experiencing together ("San Francisco", "The Great Divide "), emerging stronger ("Carry Your Will") - their message is finding a foothold with fans from every walk of life, bringing people together under one roof to celebrate each other.

The Janks

The Janks offer a change for rock 'n' roll on their second record 'Hands of Time'. On songs like "Dead Man," and "Billy the Kid," guitars careen and vocals rise and fall seamlessly, while on songs like "Demon Dance", the band sounds like they're playing a house party in Hell. The Janks sound like Pete Townshend going on a bender with Gene Ween, and that's just part of what makes Hands of Time come to
life. The band principals, blood brothers Zachary Zmed [Vocals, Guitar, Keys], and Dylan Zmed [Vocals, Mandolin]—give listeners a front row seat at their "theatre". Zack's reverence for tradition melds with an appreciation that runs the gamut —from The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Mahler, and Queen to Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Radiohead, and Ween. Everything simply sets the stage for Hands Of
Time though.
Dylan says of 'Hands of Time', "It was definitely influenced by
musical theatre. The first half develops the story of a young boy who comes from a broken home, while the second reflects the visceral intensity of growing up from separated roots. At the end, we see there's possibility for change."
Zack capsulizes the record by saying, "It’s hard to predict what’s going to happen next from song to song. There's a duality to the record that we tried to make clear with two halves, one lighter and one darker. The title track and opening song "Hands Of Time" is a subtle overture which has themes and melodies that are quoted throughout the rest of the record, most notably on "Adolescence",
"Child Prodigy", and "Rat Racers". With the final two songs "When I was a kid" and "Get Outta Town" there was an attempt to create some sense of catharsis. In the end, they're all just a bunch of self serving, bullshit songs though."
Zachary has been working under The Janks name since 2006, and released the debut record 'Delicate Mouthfeels' later that same year which is a collection of twisted folk tales. Since 2007 the group has gone through numerous incarnations until younger brother Dylan joined in
early 2010. In early 2012 The Brothers Zmed began playing with drummer Leon LeDoux and bassist Paul Inder, as well as gearing up for their 3rd record to be. The group has been playing the greater Los Angeles area over the past two years and currently resides near Atwater Village.

I was born on an island
not a lot of people or cars where I changed shoes sizes
not a lot of shoes to wear
broad shouldered australia sat heavy
lots of time to think
lots of time to surf
salts always drying on skin
days in the sun being free
bmx bikes comic book walkman
worn out tape so put the radio on
I listened to my dads records a lot when I was a kid
motown beatles jackson dylan soul
soul music all of it
fell in love with music like the sea
lived in the same place
‘grunge’ bit me below the skin in my teens
nirvana pearl jam i ripped my jeans
made me feel something
