Stream LA Font’s new single “Motor Rally” via PureVolume

” It’s going to be a busy summer for Los Angeles’ LA Font. The in-your-face indie rockers will be headlining a residency at their local Silverlake club, The Satellite, for the month of July, plan on heading East in August, and will be releasing a brand new 7″ right in the middle of it all. Today, we’re excited to premiere the record’s snotty, punk-laden B-side, “Motor Rally.” Stream the track above.

“‘Motor Rally’ [is] a two minute rock song about what it takes to become a motor cross champion,” vocalist/guitarist Danny Bobbe states matter-of-factly. “For one thing, your mom can’t be a chaperone at the prom.”

The “Teen Bazooka” 7″ is slated for a July 29 release via Kill/Hurt Recordings and can be pre-ordered here. ” – PURE VOLUME

The Rosebuds

After spending two years living on opposite coasts and pursuing their own creative projects, Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp came back together last spring to set to work on the sixth full-length album from the Rosebuds.  Joining up with Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon (a friend and former bandmate who, in a 2011 interview, noted that the Rosebuds make “some of the most important music in the world”), the North Carolina-bred duo spent a week in Vernon’s studio teasing out a batch of songs that effortlessly weave the hooky songcraft of classic jangle-pop, the cagey romanticism of new wave, and a refined yet full-hearted sensibility all their own.

See The Rosebuds live at The Satellite on Fri Aug 29! Tickets on sale this Fri,  June 13.

The Crookes to play Wednesday, July 23!

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

The Crookes have announced a July tour of the U.S. in support of their new album Soapbox released last month on Modern Outsider and in conjunction with the release of second single, “Don’t Put Your Faith In Me”, on July 1 – you can watch the video for the single here.  The tour kicks off July 8 in Philadelphia and runs through July 24 in San Francisco (complete dates below). Described by the BBC’s Steve Lamacq as “one of the most hardworking and prolific bands of the underground,” The Crookes wrap up a six-week tour of the UK and Europe, with a hometown celebration in Sheffield next weekend.

Soapbox is the sophomore North American release, third overall, for The Crookes. Recorded in a church in the northern Italian alps, the remote isolation brought together this band of outsiders even closer, as they laid out their plan of attack. “The most obvious theme that runs through the entire album is the idea of ‘The Outsider’,” frets guitarist and lyricist Daniel. “As a band that seems to suit us… never invited inside, but never wanting to be. I can empathize more with the madman standing on his soapbox, slowly gaining an audience by speaking with passion and honesty.”

Get tickets for The Crookes at The Satellite on Wed July 23!
